Chocolate Fun Facts

• 65% of Americans prefer milk chocolate over dark and white chocolate.

• Chocolate is known in some cultures as an aphrodisiac.

• The word "Chocolate" comes from the Aztec word "xocolatl", which means "bitter water".

• Chocolate really is "The Food Of The Gods" - The Cacao Tree is a species of the genus Theobroma, which translates into "food of the gods".

• Espresso has 1/3 of the caffeine of a regular cup of coffee.

• Chocolate is also known to be an antidepressant.

• Contrary to popular belief, chocolate does NOT contribute to acne.

• Chocolate is toxic to dogs (and other domestic animals).  The Theobromine found in chocolate acts to stimulate the cardiac and central nervous systems.  Theobromine will over-stimulate these systems in small animals.
